Has anyone here ridden the Alaska highway?
I drove it years back in a motorhome, had a terrific time. Now my sons and I are toying with the the idea of riding it next summer, perhpas carrying a small tent and camping gear. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? Thanks.

1. Take a lot of mosquito repellent. Take your time and enjoy the trip. Should be a roadhouse every 25-50 miles or so by now.
I've driven the road 4 times. Enjoyed every trip.
2. I wish I was going with you! As far as I am concerned there is no better place in the world. I have made three trips there over the last few years and the Alaska Highway is kept up so no problems there. Every mile is another best place to be.

3. I have been talking with some friends from Calgary about doing that next summer too. From what I can tell, it is in much better repair than it used to be, almost a regular old highway. :)
4. Oh Wow! Sounds great -- very Male Bonding Time.
This was a trip my Dad always talked about, but wasn't able to make. Since when Dad traveled, he made sure that all of us kids got to go along, I'm very sorry we missed. it.
Mosquito repellent would be my largest suggestion for a trip to Alaska. It was the one thing I didn't take the last time I went -- lessons learned.
5. Never been there, but I'd love to ride it on my motorcycle sometime!
If you end up going, good luck, and have fun!
